As a work from home mom, I have come to face many difficulties over the years. Between caring for my children, taking care of the home and making sure we have food on the table, there isn’t much time left for business, let alone time for myself.
I have realized that the only way to be happy and productive is finding that right balance and being consistent. Some days are going to be tougher than others, but that’s life with kids. As long as you follow through everyday, I feel these tips will help you become happier and more productive.
Here Are My Top 5 Tips To Being A Happy And Productive Work From Home Mom:
1. Stick To A Schedule.
Schedule changes are very hard on children, and one small change can throw off an entire day. It’s very important to stick to a STRICT schedule. I work around nap times and schedule calls during walks, it makes things so much easier! Plus, you won’t have a crying baby in the background while trying to keep it professional.
2. Make Lists/Set Goals
Creating lists and setting goals is a helpful way to make sure you don’t forget anything important that needs to be done. Plus the feeling of crossing something off of your list is a feeling of satisfaction! I use everything from post it notes, dry erase boards and vision boards to help me through my day. Seeing things visually and having a goal that I am working towards makes all of the difference.
3. Get Out And Get Involved
Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you need to stay at home! Get out and network! Start attending events or even taking your work to the park. It’s a great opportunity to meet other moms, and connect with other women who also may be work from home moms or small business owners. You may be able to trade services or even land a lifelong customer.
4. Do You Time
Self care is the most important tip in my book. You need to schedule time out of each day to do something that makes you happy. For everyone self care may be different. You may enjoy reading, getting your nails done, meditating, or something completely different, but whatever it is do you boo!
5. Go Out On Date Nights/ Spend Alone Time With Your Significant Other
My husband and I are always in grind mode, but we both have realized that we need to put everything aside at times and have time to connect with one another. We don’t do it often, but we still make it a point to get a sitter, have a glass (or two) of wine, and a nice homemade dinner and vibe.
Although these tips tips are fairly simple, at times they still may be hard to stick to, but from personal experience when they are implemented into each day you will be much happier and thus more productive.
