Pursuing PURPOSE: The Preview

“How did you know?”

First, I just want to say that God is amazing. In all things give thanks.

I started writing for Queen Media Collective as a way to unapologetically express myself. It’s easy to write in your notes (which is my medium of choice) or even write on a journal. But it’s different to share those writings with others. One of my business minded friends asked me a really good question…

Well, it started from him reading the letter I wrote to my heart, and then we started talking and he asked:

“Lacey, how did you know you needed to quit your job?”

So many of you reading probably relate to many of the things I’ve written so far, but to be realer than real like Michaela, I got so stressed trying to change my mindset from an employee mindset to running a business that all I knew to do was write. It’s been my way of expressing myself for the past 12 years. So, when he asked how did you know to quit, something clicked…

MY BUSINESS AND EVERYTHING I GO THROUGH IS JUST A PLATFORM FOR ME TO PURSUE MY PURPOSE

But then being in this heightened creative state, I got an acronym I think sums up my purpose. This acronym may not be for you but I believe my purpose is all about…

Passion

Understanding

Resilience

Prosperity

Opportunity

Serenity

Elevation

I’ll start with passion — how to find it, where mine comes from, how it translates into the business I chose, and why it frustrates me — and I’m sure all my business minded friends can agree — when people think you’re just all about money, not that you can control how others see you, but you get the point.

And to answer the question, it was very simple: when I could no longer sit at work or at a sorority event, or in my own house and not think about my business or the next life I had the chance of impacting, it was time to give up a good life for a chance at my purpose.

Make sure you read my next post where I’ll be going deeper into the first part of purpose — passion.
