“I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me”
Philippians 4:13
Hey everybody!
I am happy to announce that yesterday my boss gave me a raise!!
I am not going to lie, I was worried when he called me into his office. I have only been working here for three months and my raise was $3 more per hour. This blog is not an attempt to brag nor boost. This blog is being written to inspire and motivate! I started off working hard and beating myself up when I make mistakes. Being at a new place of employment, all I wanted to do was excel at every task and impress the hire ups. However, I have been discouraged by my low pay checks and started slacking the last month. I would think to myself “Why am I busting my butt to make __________ per hour?” I would be so upset and just unintentionally started providing lower quality of work. Working at this company everything is tedious and detail oriented so my slacking was definitely noticed.
However, I am glad my boss noticed my initial attitude and efforts. He stated to me “I talked to the company CEO and I asked him if I could give you a raise to encourage you.” ENCOURAGE… that word echoed in my head. Too many employers lack the encouragement. I worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken and Orchard Supply for three years each. At Kentucky Fried Chicken I received no raise and at Orchard Supply the only raise I received was .40 cent. It is beyond me that employers wonder why there employees are slacking when they never acknowledge anything they do or reward them. This pay increase and kind words has definitely encouraged me to go back to giving 150% effort and hopefully receiving more opportunities in the near future. Believe me I have a long way to go and I do not see a future at this company, but in the meantime I do have bills and a student loan. Thank you God for the showers of blessings.
So I start my second job June 4th and I am beyond excited!! This job is actually in my field of study and I am planning to SLAY. I have been so anxious about starting and I plan on doing whatever I can to make myself stand out. Everyone I have met so far has been amazing and I am really hoping I am a nice addition to the team and they see what I can bring to the table.
In other news I am planning on moving out next year. I know I talked about living at home and saving money, but at this point I just feel too grown to be at home still. I want to start establishing my own home. I know this will be hard seeing that I am broke as a joke, but I am planning on budgeting and saving throughout the rest of the year. In addition to my full time and part time job, I also baby sit too so everything should work out.
I am at a happy point in my life. 2016 has been rocky for me so far and I have gone through a lot of transitions mentally and physically, but I am proud to say I am still standing. Right now my only focus is God, my family, saving money, my boyfriend and getting closer to my dreams. Seeing that this is the first time I have mentioned my boyfriend, I would like to give a shoutout to him. He is a great supporter and he is the one who motivates me to accomplish my dreams so thank you! Without him I would have become complacent with my life and job, but he explained to me how I should always be pressing toward the mark so I can achieve my goal and for that I am grateful. With all these people in the world constantly trying to bring you down, it feels good to have someone making sure you go nowhere but up.
Coming soon…
So I still have not started my Podcast (I know I promised this months ago). I am just such a perfectionist it is hard to release much of anything, but I just bought a new microphone and I am ready to go so the first one should be up within the next week. I am so excited to share my views and hear you all’s comments.
Also, I just bought a Canon Camera (super excited!) So if anyone needs photos or anything let me know. I am a beginner so I do not charge much, so please be my model! I am trying to expand my skill set so buying a camera was a step.
This is my first video I shot and edited:
Let me know what you think:)
Well there goes my update. I will be posting more regularly now that I have my life somewhat together so please continue reading and supporting me! Have a good day everyone and remember… yo success mirrors yo grind;)
